====== Restoring the CWA Series' OS ====== WARNING: Please do not attempt to restore the operating system or boot loaders unless the device is not booting properly. If a mistake is made in the restore process, it may be difficult to get the device to boot again, and it may require returning the device for service. ===== Restoring Only the OS ===== - Execute Utility\sam-ba_2.12.exe to install the SAM-BA utility on a host PC - Execute Utility\sam-ba_2.12_patch5.exe to update the SAM-BA utility with the latest features and fixes. - Set all DIP switches on the right-side of the CUWIN CWA to the OFF position. - Connect the host PC to the CUWIN CWA's USB DEVICE port. - Turn on the CUWIN CWA. In Windows Device Manager, under the "Ports (COM & LPT)" node, you will see a new serial port appear. Note the COM# assigned to that port. - Set DIP switch 1 to the ON position. If you don't do this, you may receive an error in step 13 (Enabling the NandFlash). - Execute the SAM-BA utility installed in steps 1 and 2. - In the "Select the connection" drop-down list, select the "\USBserial\COM#" assigned in Step 5. - In the "Select your board" drop-down list, select the "at91sam9g45-ekes" option. - Be sure the "Customize lowlevel" checkbox is not checked. Ignore all other options. - Press the "Connect" button, and a new window will appear. - Select the "NandFlash" tab. - Under the "Scripts" heading, choose "Enable NandFlash" from the drop down list, and press the "Execute" button. - In the "Send File Name:" text box, select the "NK.nb0" file. - Change the "Address" to "0x200000". If you mistakenly omit this step, or write to the wrong address, you may need to restore the first and second stage boot loaders. - Press the "Send File" button. The SAM-BA utility will upload the data to the CUWIN CWA's NAND Flash memory. Wait for it to finish. It should only take a few minutes. - Turn the CUWIN CWA off and back on again. Wait for it to boot and recalibrate the touch screen. ===== Restoring the Boot Loader: ===== - Follow steps 1~13 in the instructions above. - Under the "Scripts" heading, choose "Send Boot File" and press the "Execute" button. - Select to the "FIRSTBOOT.nbo" file in the file dialog window that appears. If your device was manufactured prior to 2018, you may need to choose the "FIRSTBOOT_InternalRTC.nb0" file instead. There is no permanent problem if you choose the wrong file; it simply won't boot. If you're not sure, try both until you find the one that works. - Select "Restoring the First Stage Boot Loader" at Script. - Press the "Open" button, and the file will be sent to the device. It will only take a few seconds to complete. - In the "Send File Name:" text box, select the "EBOOT.nb0" file. - Change the "Address" to "0x80000" - Press the "Send File" button. The SAM-BA utility will upload the data to the CUWIN CWA's NAND Flash memory. Wait for it to finish. It should only take a few seconds. - Turn the CUWIN CWA off and back on again, and the CWA should reboot.
