CWV & CWV2 OS Restore Instructions

NOTE: To perform this procedure, you *MUST* use a 32-bit Windows PC. There is no 64-bit driver.

  1. Connect a USB and RS-232 serial cable as shown in the image below, and set all DIP switches on the right side of the device to the OFF position (toward the rear of the device).
  2. Open Windows Device Manager, and then turn on the device. When you see the device enumerate in Device Manager, right-click on it, and manually install this USB driver. After installed, each time you turn on the device, you should see it enumerate in device manager as "Samsung SYSLSI USB Sync"
  3. Start the "Dragin_V1.25" program. Download Dragin v1.25
  4. Go to the "Basic Options" tab and configured it as shown below.
    , However, for the "Port Number" select the serial port on your Windows PC that is connected to the device's COM3 port.
  5. Go to the "Basic" tab and configure it as shown below, selecting the .bin file for the OS you wish to upload to the device.
  6. In "Step 3" check the "Auto Reset" and "Auto Download" checkboxes, and then press the "DETECT" button. The program will enter a new state waiting to detect the device.
  7. Turn off the device and turn it back on.
  8. When the device begins booting, the program should detect the device and begin uploading the OS. After it finishes, the device should boot to the Windows CE desktop. You may need to recalibrate the touchscreen.
